Laziness

It's amazing how easily I can settle into a routine of doing Absolutely Nothing anywhere I go. I could walk around the city taking pix any day...but I don't. I'm sure that sometime in January I will go into a panic because I haven't seen anything. My only excuse is that my internal clock has figured out the time change and I don't really start functioning properly til noon. And when sunset is at 3:43 pm that doesn't leave a lot of time to explore far from home. Like any city you just don't wander in certain areas alone after dark.

I told you I am boring!

John and I got dressed up and went to the ballet last night. Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty. I prefer ballet to opera; when we saw Madame Butterfly last year I fell asleep. By the end of the ballet everything looked surreal to me; the bright lights and bright colors were ultravibrant and rather unsettling somehow. I wish there were more cultural things like this in P'cola. I like a good reason to dress up.

Still no snow. Next winter I'm going to Alaska...or maybe Canada. I just have to work out how to get there.

This is Wrong!

http://www.usatoday.com/weather/storms/winter/2008-12-11-snow-south_N.htm

4000 miles from home in Scotland where one expects to see snow, Nothing. And they're making snowmen in Jackson Square. What the hell? Very disappointing.

More sad news

Squirrel's buddy Onyx passed away early this morning. He was ancient for a rat, crippled, and nearly blind and deaf; we expected to lose him first. He became very depressed yesterday and his health declined overnight. I can't help but wonder if he was hanging on for Squirrel's sake.

Goodbye Squirrel

I got news today from my ratsitter that my ratboy Squirrel passed away last night. He was a lardass so a heart attack is the most likely culprit. Rest in peace baby.

Brrrrrr!

34F/1C...ok, not so cold for some of my friends, but cold enough for SNOW! It's been sunny today, but heavy snow is forecast for tonight - up to 8 inches in some areas. Yay! If we do get snow, and it's early enough, I want to go out and take pictures. George Square is just two blocks away, and it's decorated for Christmas with lights, Santa's Grotto, and an ice skating rink. It would look wonderful with real snow!
